The chamber provide businesses with opportunities needed to grow the local economy, to develop its employees and the future workforce, to discover new markets through their international trade services and influence key decision makers within government.

Price Increase 2019

Like many industries we have been subject to many cost increases over the past 12 months outside our control, including: Raw materials, Transport and Power.

Up to now, we have managed to absorb increases but, regrettably, from 24th June 2019 we will be increasing our prices by 4%. Existing orders and new orders placed for delivery before 24th June and call offs placed before 24th June will be charged at existing prices. After this date any new orders placed, or existing schedules will be charged at the increased rate.

FSB Award Night

We were delighted to have been shortlisted for the FSB Family Business of The Year Award 2019!

We attended the regional finals on Friday 12th April at Sandown Racecourse where we enjoyed meeting fellow family businesses in our category. It was an enjoyable day but sadly we didn’t make it to the national finals this time!

It was great to be recognised for this award. We are proud to say we are a 3rd generation family run business. Grommets Ltd was established in 1995 by Managing Director, Joanne Boorsma’s, father Sidney Wells. Today Joanne runs the business along with her husband Mark Boorsma, daughters Charlotte Fataj and Becky Knight, and step-son Josh Boormsa.

Family Business of the Year 2019 Finalists

The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) “Celebrating Small Business Awards” recognise the best small businesses from right across the UK, from every sector and industry and from businesses of all ages and all sizes.

The awards are the leading celebration of small businesses, shining a light on some of the best, most innovative and most determined smaller businesses.

Grommets Ltd. are delighted to have been shortlisted as a finalist for Family Business of the Year 2019 at the South East Area Awards on 12th April.  Success there would see us progress to the National Finals in May.

Grommets Ltd Brexit Statement

Like other committed businesses within the extended supply chain, Grommets Ltd. has identified the key area of supply continuity in the case of cross border delays.  To mitigate this risk we embarked on a review of our supply chain to minimise the impact of any changes following Brexit and implemented a contingency stocking process to ensure supply and transportation of our products nationally and internationally as of 29th March and beyond.

We pride ourselves on delivering excellent customer service and that ethos will continue irrespective of the Brexit outcome. Grommets Ltd. are committed to all customers, existing and new, alike.

New Machinery For Factory

Throughout January we have had a team of Engineer’s from Maydean Ltd and South Coast Hydraulics Ltd working away in our factory installing 2 new presses to expand our production. We are very excited about the addition of these 2 new machines, with each one weighing a whopping 6 tonnes and standing tall at over 3 metres high! They certainly are a fascinating piece of machinery.

The new presses will allow us to increase our production meaning quicker lead times for you as customers. All the team here at Grommets Ltd are excited about the arrival of our new machines and it’s been a team effort getting them installed and operating.
